How referral fees work in Indiana

Indiana adopts the ABA Model Rule. Fee division between lawyers in different firms is permitted only if the division is proportional to services performed or each lawyer assumes joint responsibility for the representation, the client agrees to the arrangement including the share each lawyer will receive with the agreement confirmed in writing, and the total fee is reasonable. A referring lawyer who does no work must assume joint responsibility to share the fee.
